Dans Timeless, on suit un mystérieux criminel (incarné par Goran Vinšjić) qui prend le contrôle d'une machine à voyager dans le temps, secret défense du gouvernement américain.
Le but de ce terroriste du futur ? Détruire l'Amérique, rien que ça.
Pour ce faire, il va voyager à différentes époques, et tenter de réécrire notre histoire. Le pilote se concentrera ainsi sur le LZ 129 Hindenburg, un gigantesque dirigeable qui s'est écrasé dans le New Jersey en 1937 après un violent incendie. Afin de tenter de renverser la tendance, une équipe est envoyée à ses trousses : en prenant soin de ne pas changer le cours de l'histoire en s'intégrant à l'époque qu'elle explore.
