en tout cas ca m'etonne, j'ai pas l'impression de l'avoir vu cette video, pourtant ca date de 2001. Je vois que ca a été filmé chez lui dans son appart a New York, je reconnais l'arriere plan.

MJF: Michael J. Fox
M: Mark

JM: “OK, I’m James Mall. The date today is May 10th, 2001 and I’ll be conducting interview with Michael J.Fox for the archive of the American television in New York City.”

MJF: “Yeah.”

JM: “So we’ll start very early with being born...”

MJF: “Bizarre go for us”

JM: (laughs) “When were you born ? And where ? and tell me more about your little childhood.”

MJF: “I was born in June 9th, 1961 in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. I’m the fourth of five kids. My Dad was in the military. And he travelled all accross Canada. Few stations bases accross Canada and by the time I was born in (phrase manquante).
I was born in Edmonton for a while before they did live in Calbury. By the time I was three they moved to British Columbia. When I was seven they moved back east entirior and my father retired in 1971 when I was 10 and then we moved back to us accross Canada in a based area so I usually say that I’m from Vancouver. I lived there until I was 18. Then I moved to California.”

JM: “So you are the fourth of five kids, don’t you ?”

MJF: “ Yeah.”

JM: “What about your brothers and sisters ?”

MJF: “My sister, Karen, is a, well now is not polite to say, but she is a double digit twenty senior. I have a brother, Steven, who is 8 years old older than me and my sister, Jacki, who is five years older than me and a younger sister, Kelli, who is three years younger then me. So we are a pretty big family. As I said, growing in a military background, we lived in a military houses most of the time, so, depending on whatever you’ve got a colored tv or depending on how many kids you had and, so, you know if you next turn around on the same blocks you had...If you next turn around you have a bigger tv or bigger importance so they had less kids and so it wasn’t until my father retired that we had a colored tv.
It’s an interesting life to have a big family as to say if you wanted or not to have a big family depending on the issue...It’s a good laugh.”

JM: “Early travel on what do you remember been doing for fun in bases ?”

MJF: “Well you know I, real much was notoriety in my family and I was a very kind of precocious bizarre kid and most of my family didn’t really know where I came and what aim this spaceship grabbed like this, this alien.
I was very involved in creative persuits from a very early age and wasn’t very much interested in, you know, things like you had to do absolutes 2+2=4 it kind of bored me I didn’t know where I filled in their process, I mean, somebody soon had its written down, we knew that, you know, if you need to figure it out how to make it fun just give me a call. And so that was always, I was into writings, I was into cartoons and all that stuff and you know when I think about that thing of televison the might earliest memories of cartoons were rarely the cartoons which I loved. And also my father had an (texte manquant)
I loved the Honeymooners because mainly my Dad but...
We had in Canada usually only one channel unless we lived closer to the American border we get some of the American stations must probably the most ordinary channels so I didn’t watch a ton of tv, Catch Frogs or things like that.

JM: “So very early age you were unnecessarily thinking of about acting and when did you think about what you wanted to do when you grew up ?”

MJF: “I was, yeah, I was thinking of doing anything that was unusual in a sense that I wanted to be a writer, I wanted to be a hookey player, I wanted to be... anything that didn’t getting involved except in a real job. And I also had a sense of, my father was in a military again and so, you know, I just knew Dad kind of, I was surrounded by a structure and order and a kind of regidity which I didn’t really liked to be into but I wasn’t unnecessarily, I kind of , that formed a desire to get way from very defined barriers and pushing the walls. It would just go insence. But that’s something I grew up with there was just something outside that was really cool, somewhere around that corner could be one of the different possibilities as opposed to expectations. You can expect this to happen and this to happen.
There was always another way to look at this and always another was to do this...a creative channel to go in...which is you know kind of prenventional environment and strange
I was a weird kid I’m telling you. But that’s how we put it. I thought I was nuts.

JM: “ But you said that you had some creative impulsive early age. How did it come out ?”

MJF: “Yeah, like I’ve said, when I was a little kid my father would come back from his travels and he would bring me bag picture books and you know I can read it for fun and I would... and I also take a piece of paper and I would trace it... replicating all the drawings in the books and my parents would look and had no idea where it came from.
If I watched the movies I would be able to act out all the scenes, it was just things like that if I... I write songs and it would do its stuff. Nobody really understood where it was coming from and I didn’t either understand the question. And as I entered Junior High School I started to get involved in drama programs, I also played in rock bands and did all kind of that stuff. So, my parents we just, I was either going to be something great or train acting they just held their breath and see what happen.”

JM: “Did you had any nicknames yet ?”

MJF: “Well as my name is Fox, I mean, people would call me Foxy which is an euphemism for attractive than they stopped but you know Fox and than my Dad called me Mik...but it was Mike usually.”

JM: “And what was your name of your birth ?”

MJF: “Michael.”

JM: “And middle name ?”

MJF: “ My middle name is Andrew. It’s a all story we’ll get to that later. Yeah actually, I’ll tell you a story that is kind of interesting... it’s not talking about this idea of being a strange kid it’s not so much... I’m writing this book so things are fresh in my mind but every families had its kind of legends...some are.... forms and some are not.
Ma GrandMa and my Mother during WWII they were tenant farmer and they had three sons too which had gone to war. My Mom’s two brothers and her oldest brother, they got a telegram at the farm her mother telling her that her brother had been shot in Germany and that he was presumed dead. And she got a heartattack. But she recovered when she learnt that he was a prisonner of war and that he was alive. So bare with me this guy was alive somewhere. The other son, they got another telegram the second son is presumed to be dead

One day she comes down in the kitchen, she had a big smile on her face and says he’s ok, we can do whatever, he’s alive and she had this dream about a piece of paper and fire ball and stuff. And two days later she got a letter telling her that he was alive.
So, the thing about that story is that she didn’t had this thing in her head, people had that impression that she had this inside whether is was true or not. It doesn’t matter. When I was a kid and when I was strange and everybody in my family was like what’s going to happen to Michael. And we were all worried about Michael. She said don’t worry about him, he’s going to be fine. People are going to known him all over the world, he is the last guy you have to worry about. And because of that, whether if that dreams were true or not, because my Mother believed it to be true I was given a totally lean way as a teenager and when I left High School and when I did other things that parents, otherwise, as sensible as mine, might have gone as, I don’t know, ‘Oh I remember the answer’. So, I know what it is like. So when my parents had that dream I would be able to realize my own.

JM: “Aww I think it’s a great story.”

MJF: “It’s in the book.”

JM: “Do you want us to pause for a tracks in order to... ?”

MJF: “What do you want to see Mark.”

M: “Keep just going through ok?”

JM: “Ok. Let’s go into High School.”
